After an extensive tour of Genesis material in support of the Genesis Revisited II album, Steve Hackett has announced his first album of new material since Beyond the Shrouded Horizon.
Details of the album revealed so far include Steve’s description that the album is a
wild pack of tracks – starting with a wolf cry – will be unleashed on the unsuspecting on 30th March 2015.”
From the press release we learn: The ten tracks take the listener through a journey in space and time looking at the different faces of the endless fight for freedom. Wandering between parallel universes, Hackett explores contemporary and ancient cultures, from Greece (Corycian Fire) to the Far East (Wolflight), the USA and Martin Luther King (Black Thunder), but also his very own childhood memories (The Wheel’s Turning) and the unresolved drama of domestic violence (Love Song to a Vampire).
Promising to deliver Steve’s signature guitar tones and mix in helpings of acoustic, orchestral, and as per Steve’s willingness to take the listener through continents and celestial bodies. The album art has not yet been released, however we can picture an illustrated cover, maybe one that is a little more literal for Steve.
The tracklist is revealed as:
- Out of the Body
- Wolflight
- Love Song To a Vampire
- The Wheel’s Turning
- Corycian Fire
- Earthshine
- Loving Sea
- Black Thunder
- Dust and Dreams
- Heart Song
The album also marks 40 years since Steve’s first solo album, Voyage to the Acolyte. The tour already announced (dates below) will journey from those beginnings, through various albums such as Spectral Mornings, Wild Orchids, and Out of the Tunnel’s Mouth. It is sure to be an interesting 2015.
Watch Steve let loose on this Genesis staple, Supper’s Ready.
