The Monkees’ lead singer Davy Jones (real name David) has passed away aged 66 as confirmed by his publicist. Davy was the lead singer for 60s outfit The Monkees, most renown for songs such as Daydream Believer and I’m a Believer. In the morning of the 29th he was found at his Indiantown, Florida home after suffering a severe cardiac arrest.
The acting quartet found fame through the American TV show ‘The Monkees’ which followed the band on various scenarios. The band (excluding Davy) reunited for a series of shows last year.
Davy made acting appearances in several TV Shows and broadway productions after the break up of the Monkees. Davy’s last music endeavour was the 2009 effort ‘She’ which was comprised of select songs from the years 1940 – 1970.
Jones is survived by his four daughters: Talia, Sarah, Jessica, and Annabel.
