Guitar virtuoso, Steve Hackett, premiered a new song entitled “A Place Called Freedom” on Guitarworld.com today. We at TEJ actually heard an earlier version of the song back in February along with a few others as well as few in April when we interviewed Steve (check here).
The song has progressed and we are able to hear it at full volume and in brilliant quality. Steve uses his modern day production values to create a romanticised prog song which we hear at TEJ feels a lot more like a return to roots. It is layered and textured with some incredible guitar playing yet we will admit that it does remind us, just a tad of, Pink Floyd’s Learning to Fly however only in a small section of the song the rest of it is absolutely brilliant though. The 6 minute epic will be on Steve’s new album “Beyond The Shrouded Horizon”
