Incoming Noise: New Music from Submotion Orchestra, Odesza, Spider Bag, Absolutely Free and Glass Animals

We are always interested in newly released tracks, so here are some gathered up for you to gobble and liven up your Monday.

Starting off with this: Submotion Orchestra’s ‘Alium’.

After tweeting about this, I thought it would be good to post their new release at the top of this post. First track ‘City Lights’ features shuffling garage beats, with looping 7th chords, tight production. After recently watching ‘Drive’, this song would fit the soundtrack to the movie. This chorus has a bit of a SBTRKT feel, and as a SBTRKT fan this tickles my fancy. Time Will Wait features a bit more of a Dubstep influence, but it works well. The EP deviates a little from their previous work that you can also find on Soundcloud. ‘Damn Hot’ from the ‘1968’ EP for example is a little Janet Jackson RnB sounding, with reverse reverb vocals, Be Bop trumpet to close the track. Definitely check these guys out, they are great.

Also Submotion are on the Counter Record label, and I had a quick peak around and also saw this new release by Odesza Ft Monsoonsiren that is worth a listen.

NPR are streaming the new Spider Bag’s album which you can listen to here: http://www.npr.org/2014/07/27/333581429/first-listen-spider-bags-frozen-letter?autoplay=true A bit of rock for your Monday blues. The album ‘Frozen Letter’ is released soon. It was recorded in 3 days session, so the album is full of ‘humanity’ with raw raucous performances and straight no-nonsense fakery.

This next band is one of my favourite upcoming acts. Recently released their album ‘Zaba’, Glass Animals also have released an EP featuring remixes of their song Pools plus a cover of Kanye West’s Lockdown. Check the EP out here:

This last track comes from Absolutely Free. Let’s not spend ages dwelling, just listen below
